Benoit Paire has launched yet another bizarre rant about how little he enjoys tennis now after losing to Jordan Thompson in Monte-Carlo.
The Frenchman went down 4-6, 7-6, 6-7 to Thompson in a strange match in Monaco, with him appearing to win the second set almost by accident after making 28 unforced errors in it.
Afterwards, though, he was not disappointed to lose and instead vented more fury about how little he cares for playing tennis in empty stadiums.
“Honestly I don’t give a sh*t about this match,” Paire said after the match.
“Playing in a cemetery like this, it’s just not possible anymore. All the players think it. I am perhaps the only one to say it.
“Tennis is no longer bringing me anything good. I’ve got no more spark.”
It was another continuation of Paire’s recent crusade against tennis during the coronavirus crisis, with him stating after Acapulco that his ‘priority’ was losing in the first round of tournaments at the moment.
“I come [for the tournaments], he said after his exit in Mexico. “I make some money, and [then] I go to the next tournament: I do my job.
“There, if you win an ATP 250, you only get $30,000. I took a check of $10,000 each time by losing straight.
“Why tear yourself away like a crazy to win barely more?”
