Bianca Andreescu has been struck with injury again, with her agent Jonathan Dasnieres de Veigy confirming she has withdrawn from three tournaments.
The former US Open champion missed all of 2020 with a knee injury, but she made what appeared to be a successful comeback at the Australian Open.
She followed that up with a good run at the Phillip Island Trophy in Melbourne, where she reached the semi-finals before losing out to Marie Bouzkova.
She was due to play Adelaide, Doha, and Dubai next, but she will now miss them instead.
However, de Veigy assured fans that the injury was nothing to worry about, and her pulling out of the tournament was merely precautionary with the Miami Open in mind.
"The lower body issue she had is not concerning at all but she has to think about the longevity of the season and of her career," he said.
Andreescu, 20, appeared in very high spirits in Melbourne following her comeback
“I feel pretty damn good,” Andreescu said after beating Mihaela Buzarnescu in the first round of the Australian Open.
“I took 15 months off. I’ve been through quite a bit during those 15 months. It wasn’t easy.
“That moment over there was me just realizing how all of that is worth it. I never gave up. I have amazing people around me."
