Goran Ivanisevic is 'brilliant' for Novak Djokovic because he knows how to deal with the Serbian ace's personality, says Greg Rusedski.
Ivanisevic joined Djokovic's coaching team in 2019 and often shares courtside duties with Marian Vajda.
The former Wimbledon champion cut a controversial figure at the French Open, when he said before the semi-finals that Rafael Nadal would have 'no chance' against Djokovic should they meet in the competition.
They did indeed meet, and Nadal demolished the Serbian in straight sets before saying he thought Ivanisevic's comments were 'arrogant.'
However, former US Open champion Rusedski believes Ivanisevic is an absolutely crucial part of Djokovic's team.
“I think Goran’s brilliant for him,” said Rusedski. “Goran was a great player but he can relate to Novak and knows how to manage him.
"You have to let the person be themselves. Some like to focus on tennis and chill out but that’s not Novak’s way. Novak’s the sort of guy that likes to say it how it is and what he wants to do.”
