Jannik Sinner believes compatriot Lorenzo Musetti is a ‘big big talent’ who is ready to make his mark on the ATP Tour.
Italian tennis appears to be on the cusp of a golden generation, with Matteo Berrettini already reaching an ATP Finals and Sinner and Musetti coming up behind him.
Sinner is the highest-ranked teenager in men’s tennis, but Musetti is starting to emerge too, with him beating both Diego Schwartzman and Frances Tiafoe in Mexico so far this week.
Musetti will face Grigor Dimitrov in the quarterfinals on Thursday, and Sinner says he is definitely one to watch.
“Everyone is different, has different styles, so I think that’s very exciting,” said Sinner
“Musetti is a big, big talent. He can do everything with the ball already, so he’s already physically strong.
“I think he’s a great player like [Lorenzo] Sonego as well. He’s serving big and going for shots.
“I’m excited for Italian tennis and I think everyone can do well in every tournament.”
Musetti, who is currently ranked 120 in the world, burst onto the scene last year when he beat both Stan Wawrinka and Kei Nishikori at the Italian Open.
