‘Lorenzo Musetti definitely has all the qualities to be top player,’ says Novak Djokovic

Novak Djokovic hailed Lorenzo Musetti after he produced some stunning tennis against the world number one at the French Open.

Musetti was able to win the fist two sets against Djokovic, and he absolutely deserved them too after showing all his quality.

Ultimately, cramp and a stiff back set in and Musetti’s level dropped considerably from the start of the third set, allowing Djokovic to dominate after that.

The Italian teenager eventually retired hurt in the fifth, explaining that he no longer felt able to win a point, but Djokovic was understandably impressed with what he had seen.

“Musetti definitely has all the qualities in his tennis, in his game on clay particularly, but also [on] other surfaces to be a top player,” Djokovic said after the match.

“I wish him all the best. He’s a nice guy. We’ve trained quite a bit [together], and now we played for the first time.

“I think if he keeps going in this way [that] he’s definitely on the right path to becoming a top player one day.”
