Roland Garros surprise semi-finalist Iga Swiatek is backing Rafael Nadal to claim his 13th French Open title this year.
Swiatek was on court before the late match between Rafa Nadal and Jannik Sinner on Tuesday which the Spaniard went on to win in straight sets.
When asked her thoughts on Nadal's prospects for this year's title, Swiatek replied, "He's my favourite player. He was the only player I watched when I was younger.
"So, yeah, I really like him. I just wish him the best and hope he's gonna get another French Open this year"
The 19 year old Polish player has been nicknamed Cinderella after making her way to her first ever Grand Slam semi-final without dropping a set.
In the fourth round, she saw off top seed Simona Halep and went on to beat Martina Trevisan in the quarterfinals to become the first Polish woman in the Open Era to reach the last four in Paris.
Her match took place immediately after the epic five-hour battle between Thiem and Schwartzman, meaning a late 9pm start to the game on Court Philippe-Chatrier.
"It was kind of stressful,” Swiatek said. “I wasn't thinking that I'm playing quarter-final of a Grand Slam. I just kept doing everything I did before. I had to warm up three times. Martina had the same situation, so it was OK with me.
"Well, I was pretty nervous (today),” she said. “I knew that my opponent also can be nervous because it was her first match on Philippe-Chatrier. I remember last year when I played my first match on Philippe Chatrier. It was kind of horrible.
“I just knew that I'm going to make some mistakes at the beginning because of the conditions. I just stayed really down-to-earth and really positive. I wanted to be aggressive from the beginning so I can lead on court. I did that pretty well.”
