Sascha Baijin says he does not want to think his praise of Naomi Osaka was responsible for his split from Dayana Yastremska, but he can't rule it out.
Baijin coached Osaka to multiple Grand Slam titles before they parted ways, with him re-emerging later as part of Yastremska's team.
However, following a match between Yastremska and Osaka, Baijin tweeted praise of the Japanese ace, describing her as the better player on the day.
Shortly afterwards he split from the Ukrainian maid reports of a falling out.
He, though, says that he doesn't believe his Osaka praise was behind it - or at least he doesn't want to believe it.
“No, I just don’t want to believe that," Baijin told tennisnet.
"I do not want to say much about this matter now either, because it is not worth mentioning for me.
"But that was not the reason for the separation. As I said, it was more due to the different approaches.
“Maybe Dayana was a bit annoyed because I congratulated Naomi Osaka of all people.
"But I always do that. I congratulate the other team, but maybe it bothered them a little more.”
