‘I have the utmost respect for her’ – US legends tip Naomi Osaka for huge career

Naomi Osaka has been tipped to win a haul of major titles in her career by US Grand Slam legends Jim Courier and Lindsay Davenport.

Osaka has already won the US Open twice as well as one Australian Open crown, and she will be among the favourites in Melbourne again next month.

And, according to Davenport, what you get with Osaka is the complete package, both mentally and technically, so there is every chance she will be a force to be reckoned with for a long time to come.

“She’s been so open about the pressure that she feels and everything that she’s gone through,” Davenport told the Tennis Channel of Naomi Osaka.

“But let’s look at her game. I mean she has that great combination of athleticism, of power, she’s learned consistency also these last couple of years and that has helped her become a Grand Slam champion.

“She’s not afraid to put in the hard work. She’s not afraid to change her game and she listens to her coaches. [I have the] utmost respect for her.”

Courier, who won four Grand Slam titles in his career, was in complete agreement, and he believes only injury can stop her from making a major mark in tennis.

“If she can stay healthy, it seems very likely she’s going to win another five to ten majors because she has that all-court game right,” Courier added.

“She’s very focussed, very put together, very professional, just needs to have good health, and she should have an amazing career on the court as well as off the court.”
