Nick Kyrgios becomes first big name to join Noami Osaka’s sports agency

Nick Kyrgios has become the first top name to sign up to the new EVOLVE sports agency started by WTA star Naomi Osaka.

Osaka is something of a revolutionary in tennis and earlier this year she opted to start her own agency, aimed mainly at taking sports representation into a new era that helps athletes deal with modern issues.

She teamed up with her own long-time agent Stuart Duguid to start the venture, and they have made a splash by immediately getting Kyrgios on board 0 a player they describe as ‘an icon.’

“Kyrgios embodies the types of athletes we want to work with at EVOLVE,” Osaka said.

“He’s got an unmatched style, passion, and personality that is unlike any other in the sport. We have some big things in the pipeline for him that are very unique and pioneering.”

Kyrgios himself has struggled with the kind of mental health issues that Osaka believes modern sportspeople need help to manage, and he says he looking forward to EVOLVE taking a fresh approach to his needs.

“When I learned that Stuart and Naomi were starting an agency focused on supporting athletes like me, it made complete sense to join,” Kyrgios said in a statement.

“I have consistently tried to do things differently throughout my career and bring my entire personality to the game of tennis.

“I’m excited to work with Stuart and Naomi to continue building on what we’ve started and push the game of tennis forward.”

The move is not a huge surprise given that Nick Kyrgios has previously been represented by Stuart Duguid, but it’s certainly a big first move by the fledgling agency.

“Nick is the most talented and entertaining tennis player on the tour, bar none,” Duguid said.

“His energy is infectious. And love or hate him, you definitely can’t keep your eyes off him. For Gen Z and younger, he is absolutely the icon.”
