‘I am in the best shape of my life,’ says Nick Kyrgios ahead of Australian Open return

Nick Kyrgios says he is refreshed reinvigorated, and ‘in the best shape of his life’ as he prepares to make his return to tennis.

Kyrgios has done an awful lot of talking this year but very little tennis as he opted to put his career on hold while the world got the coronavirus crisis under control.

That has not stopped him being a vocal critic of his colleagues who did decide to continuing playing, and he has also opened up about a depression struggle too.

However, he says he has also been training hard and feels’ great’ ahead of his expected return in January.

“I haven’t stopped training,” Kyrgios told Fox Sports.

“I feel like I am probably in the best shape of my career. Looking forward to getting back on the court.

“[I feel] great, actually. I haven’t spent this much time at home since I started the pro tour seven years ago.

“I’ve loved spending time with my friends and family and have had a lot of time to relax and remember what it is to live a normal life.

Kyrgios is working towards returning to the court when the ATP Tour begins its new season in Australia in January, and he says he is very much up for it.

“I am just excited to have tennis back home again and of course being able to play in front of everyone here,” he said.
