'Novak Djokovic looks scary good and motivated,' says Wilander

Novak Djokovic roar French Open

Novak Djokovic looks young, fresh and 'scary good' after winning the Roland Garros title according to Mats Wilander.

Djokovic had to come back from two sets down against Stefanos Tsitsipas in Sundays final to win his second French Open title. In doing so he becomes the only man in the Open Era to win at least two titles at all four Grand Slams.

The journey to the final wasn't easy for the world number one who also came from two sets down in the fourth round against Lorenzo Musetti.

The Serbian then had a tough four set match against Matteo Berrettini in the quarter-final before an epic four hour, four set battle with Rafael Nadal in the semi-finals in what has been hailed as one of the best matches of all time.

Despite the extensive court time and physical impact on Djokovic, former Grand Slam champion Mats Wilander says he is impressed by how good the 34-year-old looks.

"We are now heading into the season where we would have to put Novak as the favourite to win Wimbledon most probably, favourite at the US Open because of what he does on hard courts – so yes, it’s on and the way he looks – he looks young, he looks so fresh at the end, he looks scary good and motivated," Wilander told Eurosport.

"It's not what he tells himself in the mind when he is two sets to love down, is he able to completely forget what the score is and is it just about he spent two hours with his opponent and now knows exactly what he needs to do?

"He pulls off the right shots at the right time. He looks fresher and fresher as the match going on, he’s so clever, he’s strong and he’s so calm these days. He looks unbeatable in the third, fourth and fifth."
