Alexander Zverev believes Novak Djokovic is the mentally toughest player in tennis, and his remarkable 2019 Wimbledon win over Roger Federer proves it.
Djokovic underlined his mental strength by overcoming an abdominal tear to win the Australian Open last month.
Alexander Zverev was one of the players the world number one beat along the way, but the German is far from the only player to discover first hand just how resilient Novak Djokovic is.
“Novak [Djokovic],” Zverev told Head when asked who was the toughest player mentally in tennis.
“You can look at the Wimbledon final against Roger [Federer].
“He found a way to win that match when Roger was serving for the title in the final set, 40-15 up.

“And Roger does know how to win Grand Slams, let’s be clear.”
Bianca Andreescu, who won the US Open in 2019, agreed with Zverev’s analysis, adding: “The way that he presents himself on the court mentally… I have seen him many times come back and win the match when he is down.”
Djokovic’s latest Australian Open win leaves him just two majors behind Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in the Grand Slam race.
