'Novak Djokovic told me he wants to win 30 majors,' says former mentor

'He told me every time and I know his idea. He wants to get to the number 30, which is three-zero. That's what Novak Djokovic wants...' JUST IMAGINE!
Novak Djokovic sets Grand Slams target

Novak Djokovic wants to reach 30 Grand Slam titles before he retires and he will give himself another five years to do it, says former mentor Bogdan Obradovic.

Djokovic has been going head-to-head with rivals Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer for his entire career as they vie for historical superiority.

Currently, Nadal is winning that race with 22 to his name, but Djokovic passed Federer to close to within just one of the Spaniard when he won Wimbledon last week.

However, if Obradovic is to be believed, Djokovic is only just getting started and he has plans to raise the bar for greatness way beyond anything anyone has even considered possible before.

"I talked to Novak Djokovic when he was nine years old, that's when we met for the first time," Obradovic said.

"After that, when he was 13, we started working together for the next 18 years, which is a very long time.

"He told me every time and I know his idea. He wants to get to the number 30, which is three-zero. That's what Novak wants.

"So, for the next five years, he will play and he will probably have 20 opportunities to get to that number, to 30 Grand Slam trophies. Let's see."

That certainly aligns with what Novak Djokovic himself said after he secured his latest Wimbledon triumph.

Sitting next to his 21st Grand Slam trophy, he was quizzed by reporters about whether he has made any tentative plans for retirement yet.

“I don’t feel I’m in a hurry to finish my career in a year or two,” he replied.

“Thinking about it. I want to keep my body healthy because that is necessary to continue at this level.”
