Rafael Nadal has come out strongly in favour of vaccinations, describing it as the 'only way out of the COVID nightmare.'
Tennis appears to be largely divided on the subject of vaccinations, with many top players, including Andrey Rublev and Elina Svitolina saying they do not want to get one.
Both the ATP Tour and WTA Tour have encouraged players to be vaccinated, though, saying it will be nearly impossible to return to any real sense of normality without it, and Nadal seems to agree.
"The only way out of this nightmare is vaccination," Rafael Nadal said.
"Our responsibility as human beings is to accept it. I know there is a percentage of people who will suffer from side effects, but the effects of the virus are worse."
"If I am given this chance, I will be vaccinated."
Nadal had a COVID scare himself this week, when Daniil Medvedev tested positive after they practiced together in Monte-Carlo.
He, though, says he sees no real cause for concern.
“I was not worried,” Rafael Nadal said. “Yes, I practiced with him, but I was never close to him. Honestly, no.
"I felt sorry for him more than for me because, well, everything can happen, of course, yes.”
