‘Rafael Nadal is an impeccable professional – there is no ego,’ says Carlos Moya

Carlos Moya says Rafael Nadal is an ‘impeccable professional’ to work with because he has no ego to prevent him from learning.

Moya has coached Nadal since 2016 and the pair have enjoyed a huge amount of success in that time.

With Moya as his coach, Nadal has won 16 of his record-equalling 20 Grand Slam career titles – four at Roland Garros and two at the US Open.

And, according to Moya, any suggestion that Nadal has a big ego should be dispelled by the fact he has constantly improved during his career.

“In that sense, Rafa is an impeccable professional and trusts a lot in what we tell him within his work team.

Then he will be the one to make the decisions, but it is something to value because not all players do it,” Moya said.

“Especially since we are not up to the level of everything he has achieved during his career.

“We are talking about one of the best players in all of history and if Rafa’s ego were big he wouldn’t listen to us like he does every day.”
