Rafael Nadal makes Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer look bad on clay claims former British number one, Tim Henman.
Despite both Djokovic and Nadal having excellent win records on clay, they only have one French Open title each. Meanwhile Nadal has 12 French Open titles and is still in the running to claim his 13th.
Henman, who is currently working for Eurosport at Roland Garros, explained that its not that either player is bad on clay its just that Nadal has been “greedy” with the titles.
Roger Federer has actually made the French Open final 4 times, losing to Nadal each time while Novak Djokovic has made 3 finals, losing to Nadal twice and Wawrinka once.
When asked his thoughts on Djokovic matching Rafael Nadal’s record of 14 Roland Garros quarterfinals, Henman said, “Because Nadal has been so greedy and has won so many Roland-Garros titles there are other people where you think ‘clay isn’t such a good surface’.
“Federer I think you put in that category as well because he’s been in so many Roland-Garros finals but Nadal has won so many. Djokovic again showing how consistent he is.”
