Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic need to take seriously the threat of Stefanos Tsitsipas at this years Roland Garros claims Barbara Schett.
Tsitsipas is in incredible form this year, winning the Monte-Carlo Masters, and again in Lyon last week and currently leads the ATP Race to Turin with 33 wins so far this season.
The Greek also reached the semi-finals at the Australian Open, beating Nadal to do so, and the finals of both Barcelona and Acapulco.
It is a great start for the world number five, who has managed to beat both Nadal and Djokovic twice over the last three years, and appears to be in the best form of his career.
And Schett believes although Nadal and Djokovic are favourites at Roland Garros, Tsitsipas is still one to watch.
"Novak and Rafa have played some outstanding tennis,' Schett said to Eurosport.
"Tsitsipas as well won the tournament in Monte Carlo and in Lyon as well. I would think the two from the old guard are definitely in the mix, entering Roland-Garros as favourites but then they have to watch out for Stefanos Tstisipas.
"Don’t forget that Tstistipas is one of the players to have beaten both of them and he can do some damage.
"Is he mature enough to win a Grand Slam in Paris where he can face someone who has won the title 13 times? It’s hard to believe. Novak, Rafa and Tstistipas have shown the best form so far."
Nadal, Djokovic and Federer have been drawn in the same half of the French Open, meaning Tsitsipas would only meet one of the big three if he reaches the Roland Garros final.
