Serena Williams has dropped an enormous hint that she will compete at Wimbledon this year after all.
Williams has not played since the Championships last year, when she was forced to retire hurt in the first round.
Since then she has essentially walked away from tennis to focus on other projects.
Coach Patrick Mouratoglou recently revealed that he wanted her to commit to playing Roland Garros, but they instead ended their coaching arrangement due to Serena 'not knowing what she wanted to do.'
Now, however, it appears she had made up her mind - and she could be Wimbledon bound.
"SW and SW19," she wrote on Instagram to accompany a picture of her white shoes on grass. "It’s a date. 2022 - see you there."
Earlier this year Williams said she planned on making a comeback at Wimbledon, although she has done little since to suggests he was readying herself to play Grand Slam tennis.
She is not on the entry list for the event and her ranking no longer gets her anywhere near a main draw, meaning she would require a wild card.
However, Wimbledon organisers would welcome her with open arms given her stature and record.
