Wimbledon champion Simona Halep confirms she has tested positive for Covid-19

World number two and reigning Wimbledon champion Simona Halep has tested positive for Covid-19, she has confirmed.

The Romanian last played on October 4, and she has reassured fans that her symptoms are mild.

“Hi everyone, I wanted to let you know that I tested positive for COVID-19,” Halep revealed on Twitter.

“I am self-isolating at home and am recovering well from mild symptoms.

“I feel good … we will get through this together.”

Halep has been one of the more cautious players during the coronavirus pandemic.

She played Prague before deciding not to travel to American for the US Open, although she did return for Roland Garros in October.
