Rafael Nadal says Novak Djokovic has achieved 'something amazing' this year whether he wins the calendar slam or not.
Djokovic has already won the Australian Open, the French Open, and Wimbledon in 2021.
If he can win the US Open too, he will not only surpass Nadal and Roger Federer’s 20 major titles, but be the first man to win a calendar slam since 1969.
Nadal will be one of the players looking to stop Djokovic from doing that at the US Open, although he has paid tribute to what the Serbian has already done.
“Well, he (Djokovic) already won three [Grand Slam titles this year]. So when you win three, you can win four, without a doubt, no? He did 75 percent of the way."
“He [is] going to be playing on hard court, probably his best surface. So why not?
"Of course [it] is something difficult. Going to be [other] guys that want to achieve the last Slam of the season.
“But, yeah, of course he’s one of the clear favourites, probably the most favourite player to achieve that.
"Yeah, what he achieved this year is something, well, amazing. Let’s see. I don’t know. I definitely believe that he can do it, without a doubt.”
